Forum 2006 - Incentives for Reducing Risk |
February 2 & 3, Bangkok - Thailand
In February 2006, ProVention hosted its second annual ProVention Forum in Bangkok, Thailand. The 2006 Forum addressed the central theme of 'Incentives for Reducing Risk' and examined a range of inter-related topics concerning risk, vulnerability and natural disasters. It included 6 main themes:
- Evidence of changing patterns of risk and new perspectives on disaster vulnerability
- Government incentives – and disincentives – for investing in disaster reduction
- Post-disaster recovery: is there a real window of opportunity for reducing risk ?
- Balancing state responsibility and community action in risk
- Risk transfer solutions and the business case for managing disaster risk
- Turning learning and knowledge into action: is it time to rethink our approach ?
